“Nord Stream”: Denmark wants to rescue objects with Russia

About six months after the “Nord Stream” gas pipeline explosions, Denmark wants to work with Russia to recover an object that was recently found near the pipes. Danish authorities had already examined the approximately 40 cm high cylindrical object at the bottom of the Baltic Sea, the Copenhagen energy authority announced yesterday. There is no immediate security risk. It’s possible it’s a smoke buoy.

To finally clear this up, the object must now be retrieved. In this context, Nord Stream 2 AG was offered to participate in the bailout, according to the statement from the Danish energy authority.

This was welcome in Moscow. “It is positive news when the owner of the pipeline is invited to important investigative acts,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov was quoted as saying by Interfax news agency. It should be investigated whether the object found has anything to do with the “act of terrorism” on the lines, he said. And—contrary to the Danish information—he added: “And apparently it does.”
