North Korea announces: “We are ready to receive Putin”

North Korea is “ready to receive Russian President Vladimir Putin.” This is reported by the official agency KCNA, confirming the rapprochement between Pyongyang and Moscow. According to KCNA, North Korean Foreign Minister Choe Son Hui said during a visit to the Russian capital that North Korea is “ready to receive the dearest friend of the Korean people with the utmost sincerity.”

According to the head of the Ukrainian military intelligence service (GUR), Kyrylo Budanov, North Korea is the largest supplier of artillery ammunition to Russia: without its help, the situation for Moscow would have been catastrophic.

In an interview with the Financial Times, regarding weapons production in Russia, Budanov said that Moscow uses more weapons and ammunition than it can produce and has difficulties with quality control of the weapons it produces.

“This is exactly what explains Russia’s search for weapons in other countries,” the Gur chief said, emphasizing that Pyongyang is the largest supplier of artillery ammunition to the Russian army and “that gave Russia a little sigh of relief.” Without North Korea's help, the situation would have been “catastrophic” for Russia, he added.
