North Korea fires more missiles, warns against turning Pacific into ‘firing range’

North Korea launched two ballistic missiles on Monday morning, Japan’s defense ministry said, as leader Kim Jong Un’s powerful sister threatened to turn the Pacific into a “firing ground,” two days after the nation sent a long-range weapon ashore off Hokkaido.

Both missiles were believed to have landed in the Sea of Japan in waters outside of Japan’s Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ), which stretches 200 nautical miles (370 kilometers) from its coast, the Defense Ministry said.

The South Korean military also said it had detected the launching of alleged two short-range missiles from North Korea’s western Sukchon territory.
