North Korea has supplied Russia with missiles to attack Ukraine, the White House says

Missiles supplied by North Korea to Russia have been used in large-scale attacks on Ukraine in recent days, the White House said on Thursday, denouncing in Moscow a “consistent and troubling escalation” of support from Pyongyang.

“According to our information, North Korea recently provided Russia with ballistic missile launch systems and multiple ballistic missile launchers,” some of which were subsequently used in attacks on Ukraine on December 30 and again on January 2, the US national security spokesman said Advice, John Kirby.

The United States and its allies will now take the matter to the UN Security Council because the missile transfer is a violation of UN sanctions against North Korea, John Kirby said.

Russia also plans to buy missiles from its Iranian ally, the spokesman said.

“We will impose additional sanctions on those who work to facilitate these arms transfers between Russia and North Korea and between Russia and Iran,” he added.
