SEOUL, Jan. 2 (Yonhap) — Chairman of North Korea's State Affairs Committee Kim Jong-un attended a New Year's performance by young students and emphasized the importance of education, the North Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) said on Tuesday.
According to North Korea's state news agency, Kim made the remarks during the performance held the day before at the Mangyongdae School Children's Palace in Pyongyang.
“He called for the renewal of educational content and methods to ensure that students acquire practical knowledge for socialist construction,” KCNA said in a report in English.
Kim's “fatherly” presence was highlighted throughout the report, with KCNA portraying the North Korean leader as “the loving father of the entire country's large family.”
The report also emphasized the importance of the future generation, noting that the performance reflected “the determination of the students' loyalty to prepare to be young revolutionaries and patriots defending a powerful country.”
