Norwegian mass murderer Breivik calls for an end to solitary confinement Norway

Oslo – Right-wing extremist mass murderer Anders Behring Breivik wants to be released from solitary confinement in Norway. The long isolation violated his human rights, Breivik's lawyer Oeystein Storrvik wrote in an application filed with the Oslo District Court ahead of Monday's hearing. More than a decade of “no meaningful interaction” has had devastating consequences. Breivik is at risk of suicide. “He now depends on the antidepressant Prozac to get through his days in prison.” The Justice Ministry told the court that Breivik had to be separated from other prisoners for security reasons. Despite being in solitary confinement, he has contact with guards, a priest, medical staff and, until recently, an external volunteer, whom Breivik no longer wants to see. He also maintains contact with two prisoners for an hour every two weeks.
