A woman went viral on TikTok after sharing what it was like coming to the office for “office culture.”
TikTok user @kawaiiprincessv filmed herself in the cubicle of her office. In the clip, she reveals she showed up after being told to “come back to the office for the culture.” The camera switches to her computer screen, an event in her email inviting her to “Barefoot Fridays” for “4:30pm to 5:30pm office drinks.” It reads the time as 4:47 p.m. and the camera jumps to an empty office with no person in sight.
“Not even the HR manager who organized it came in,” the worker added in the caption.

The video was viewed 106,000 times as of Friday, with many viewers criticizing the so-called “office culture”.
“Culture” = trying to make it funny to distract you from the crappy pay and sub-inflationary raise, if any,” said one viewer.
“Office culture is micromanaged by neurotic and mindless bosses who worry too much about office politics,” said a second.
“Culture of CONTROL,” agreed another.
Others shared what they would have done if they were in TikToker’s place.
“If that happened to me, I would write a very stern letter to the team. I would say this was a waste of energy, time and tactics to lure us in!” one person shared.
“Baby I’m not even bothering to accept the invite,” said a second.
“If you’re the only invitee that showed up, I’d say it’s time to brush up on the resume and get out of this place. My2cents lol,” said another.
“I can drink at home at 430 (and I do) without worrying about driving home,” wrote one viewer.
Unfortunately, @kawaiiprincessv wasn’t the only one this happened to. Another viral TikToker claimed that her job required employees to come into the office twice a week for “company culture.” In her video, she revealed an empty office except for herself and was apparently the only one who stuck to it.
Remote work was introduced during the pandemic and some companies are still using the new workplace structure today. However, there are companies that have adopted the hybrid model, where you have to come into the office for a certain number of days and work remotely the other days. At some companies that work on a hybrid or remote model, there are those who ask employees to come into the office for “office culture,” but most don’t.
