The Detroit Lions are among about a dozen teams interested in linebacker Bobby Wagner, according to insider and analyst Jordan Schultz.
After 10 years of defensive dominance, the Seattle Seahawks released Wagner on Wednesday, news that came shortly after Russell Wilson was traded to the Denver Broncos. The pair were the last remaining Seahawks on the team that won Super Bowl XLVII in 2013.
The release of Wagner is a cost-cutting move, the release of about $16.6 million under the ceiling. Now Schultz says a competitive market is brewing for the veteran.
A league source just told me that #Steelers also interested in Bobby Wagner. Add another $30 million AFC team to the list of potential contenders.

The Seahawks selected Wagner, now 31, in the second round of the 2012 NFL Draft. In 10 seasons in Seattle, he played on eight Pro Bowl and six All-Pro teams, leading the league in tackles twice. A member of the well-known Legion of Boom defense, he threw 1,383 tackles, 23.5 sacks, 11 interceptions and four defensive touchdowns in 151 games.
Although he suffered sprains in his ligaments and ligaments in his knee against the Lions of all teams in Week 17, he is expected to be healthy for the upcoming season. Will it suit Leos?
Because Wagner has been released rather than his contract expired, he can sign with any team he likes whenever he wants.
