In an interview with Inverse, Carl Pei talked about one of Nothing’s current projects for 2023. After a very successful first smartphone phone (1), since the latter has managed to break market codes in terms of design while remaining competitivethe manufacturer now wants to catch up with a second device.
The CEO of Nothing has therefore officially confirmed the existence of the phone (2). The latter wouldn’t really be a direct successor to the current Phone (1) because, according to Carl Pei, it will be a “more premium” device. In addition to a new smartphone, new Ear 2 headphones are expected soon, the design of which was leaked a few months ago.
What do we know about the Nothing Phone (2)?
In his interview, Carl Pei once again expressed interest in competing in the US market with his upcoming second generation (2) phone. “We have decided to make the United States our number one priority in terms of markets,” Pei said. The CEO insists the company is now on “stronger footing” and ready to move on to the next phase of its business.
Nothing squad would count now about 400 people, twice as many as in 2021. “Our hands were tied when building the team as when building the products. Now that we have a more solid base, we can take a step forward,” says Pei.
The Phone (2) is said to be a high-end smartphone this time, not a mid-range smartphone like the Phone (2). “We are developing a high-end smartphone as the Nothing Phone (1) and the software will be our priority,” he says. “Our team consists of nearly 100 people working on the software and I’ve brought in many people I’ve worked with earlier in my past life.” What needs to be understood is the number of NEverything had to accommodate many people who had previously worked on OxygenOSwhich was considered one of the best overlays on Android at the time.
