Nurse lists the five things she will NEVER do after working in the ICU

An Australian nurse has shared the five things she will never do after working in intensive care.

A young healthcare worker from the Victoria area shared a TikTok video with the Bendigo Health page detailing some of the more heinous accidents she was involved in during her time at a hospital.

She began by announcing that she would never “chop wood, mow the lawn or use a chainsaw in belts” given some of the horrific injuries she sustained as a result.

“I will never ride a motorcycle, drink, swim, spray gasoline on fires, or stick anything in openings where it doesn’t belong in just an undershirt and shorts.”

Her light-hearted reminder for Australians to stay safe from potentially dangerous activities was well-received by fans.

‘Don’t move to Cairns… I’ve never seen anyone mow a lawn other than barefoot. It appalls me. Certainly a job with steel-toed boots,” one woman replied.

“Me too and I work as a community nurse,” said another woman.

In a separate video, a hotelier detailed the ten things she would never do in a hotel room if she knew how regularly it was cleaned and what safety practices were followed.

TikTok user Evangeline shared two videos about her experience working in an American hotel and what to look out for when booking your next room.

Her first advice was to always add every guest in the room to the reservation so they always get a key at the front desk even if the main booker isn’t with them.

“If there is more than one person staying in the room, I would never put their name on the reservation,” she said.

“If the primary person is gone and the other person gets locked out and they go to reception and their name isn’t on the room reservation, they won’t be let in. You don’t get a key, period.’

Ten things you should NEVER do in a hotel, according to staff

  • Touch or sit on the comforter sitting on top of the blankets and sheets
  • Use the ice bucket without the insert
  • Leave the names of all guests on the reservation, otherwise they will not be given a key to access the room if the lead booker is not present
  • Drink from the glasses without rinsing them first
  • Use the TV remote control without wiping it
  • Walk barefoot on carpeted floors
  • Use the shower without flip flops
  • Use a hotel washcloth
  • Say your room number out loud
  • Decline the opportunity to enroll in the hotel’s points program

Next, Evangeline went on to discuss hygiene tips, explaining that her in-depth understanding of the internal cleaning process has led her to bring her own essentials when staying at a hotel – and to wipe down some key spots quickly as soon as she enters a hotel room.

“I would never use the remote without wiping it down with my own Clorox cloth first,” she said.

“Your purification and my purification are different purifications, do you feel me?

“I would never use the glasses in the room, I’m talking about the glasses in the room ready for you, I would never use them without washing them first.”

And while some may think hotel points programs are just a gimmick, Evangeline insists you should always sign up to earn points whenever you stay at a hotel.

“I would never sign up for the points program, no matter what points program the hotel offers,” she said.

“You used to have to actually collect some of the points to actually use them for something good. But nowadays you can actually use them for other things like Amazon points.

When it comes to the bed, Evangeline shared that she would “never sit on the bedspread,” explaining that they often don’t get washed.

“I would never sit on the bedspread,” she said. “A bedspread isn’t the sheet, it’s not the quilt, it’s on top. The thing comes off the first minute I enter the hotel. These things don’t get washed often… these bedspreads get cleaned maybe once a year, so don’t sit on them.’

In a follow-up video, Evangeline shared several other words of caution with her followers, explaining that she never walks barefoot in a carpeted hotel or motel room: “I would always wear a pair of flip flops…nor would I shower without them on.” wear.’

Evangeline said she would never use an ice bucket without first putting a liner in it.

“Some people just use the ice bucket as it is without the liner, no don’t do that, put the liner in,” she said.

She continued: “This is something nobody really mentions but it’s big to me, I will never use a hotel washcloth on my body or my face.

“I’ll use a towel, but not a washcloth. Hundreds if not thousands of people have used this on their bodies and it’s not that they haven’t been washed or sterilized, it’s that so many people have come into close contact with their body parts with a washcloth and then put it on me have laid. .. No I’m good.’

She added, “Just to clarify, when I say I’m using a towel, I’m going to use the body towel very, very carefully.”

Evangeline also warned future hotel guests not to say their room number out loud at the front desk for security reasons.

“If you notice, the front desk clerk will write your room number on a piece of paper, they will circle it and direct you to the elevators, they won’t say your room number out loud,” she said.

‘At least they shouldn’t, and neither should you.’
