All-Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council spokesman Festus Keyamo, SAN, said recent support for Labor Party presidential nominee Peter Obi by former President Olusegun Obasanjo and Edwin Clark only paved the way for his party to win the upcoming elections.
He said the various supports of the People’s Democratic Party will only be doomed as the various components that gave the party second-place votes in the 2019 election retreat.
Keyamo, who is also Minister of State for Labor and Employment, made those predictions on Tuesday when he appeared on Channels Tv Politics Today.
He said: “I think we can confidently say today that the PDP campaign has collapsed. The PDP as a party has also collapsed. The various components of the party in 2019 are those who are dropping out of this coalition. Nothing has affected APC.
“If you look at 2019, every single component of this coalition that they formed both inside and outside the party against the APC has practically collapsed. PANDEF supported Atiku 2019, Edwin Clark is a member of PANDEF, Ohaneze, Afenifere and the Middle Belt Forum also supported Atiku 2019.
“What is happening now is the PDP has been internally torn to pieces by the G5 and we are hearing there is a G1 governor and also the party sympathizers in 2019 the party has imploded from within. ”
The spokesman, who is currently on vacation in the US, added that Peter Obi’s commendation was exciting news for the ruling party.
“The different factors that we have now that have messed up the political terrain are Peter Obi and Kwankwaso, they were the components of the PDP in 2019. Those are the two factors that have messed up the political terrain.
“We can say with confidence that PDP’s wheels fell off internally. I do not share what some of my colleagues are doing in condemning Obasanjo. I’m happy to confirm Obasanjo against Atiku and Peter Obi.
“Supporting Obasanjo is not against APC but against Atiku for supporting him in 2019. If you heard what Nyesom Wike said, it’s a tragedy that your former boss, who was supposed to give you a passnote, decided to endorse someone else. In other words, Obasanjo supporting Atiku in 2019 was thanks to Peter Obi.
“At the moment Obasanjo has followed Peter Obi from the PDP to the Labor Party, as has Edwin. What does it mean for APC that it has made the path to our victory clearer? It is now clear to us that we are sailing to victory,” he concluded.
