“Objectionable content”: Utah schools ban Bible news

A school district in the US state of Utah has banned the Bible from elementary and secondary schools because of “unpleasant and violent content”. The change will take effect immediately in Davis County, north of Salt Lake City, several US media outlets reported yesterday.

The backdrop for the measure is a 2022 state law that makes it possible to ban books and movies with “pornographic and indecent content” in schools. The commission tasked with reviewing the Bible came to the conclusion that the book did not violate the law, he said. However, the decision was made to restrict access to school age students.

The decision would have been preceded by a complaint from parents last year. In it, they expressed criticism of the new law. “Now we can ban all books and not even have to read them,” said the complaint, which was seen by The Salt Lake Tribune.

One thing is still missing from the list of previously banned books: the Bible, “one of the sexiest books of all time.” It contains inappropriate content such as “incest, masturbation, sexual acts with animals, prostitution, female genital mutilation, oral sex, dildos, rape and even infanticide”.
