The director general of the FPF has given his opinion on the TV rights dispute and also sent a message to those who say he betrayed Gareca.
The dispute about the broadcasting rights between some clubs in League 1 and the President of the Peruvian Football Federation (FPF), Agustín Lozano, not yet finished. The teams have met with the highest authority of Peruvian football, but there is no concrete agreement yet. Faced with this problem Juan Carlos Oblitas He pointed out that he had a position on the issue but that everything was dealt with internally in the Seen.
“When this issue was broached to legal interlocutors, the sports site completely missed it. I have an opinion on the matter and my way of working with the Peruvian Football Federation is to express my opinion here internally,” Oblitas said in an interview with Eddie Fleischman. The “Blind Man” explained that he was critical of everything, but that in this case setting fire to the prairie was not his position.
“Review my career, my life. I’ve never spoken about where I am, ever. I’m critical of everything and mostly my work, but when I have to voice my opinion, I give it internally. My position on that Right now it’s not about ranting or setting the prairie on fire. It’s not like that, that’s what I want them to understand,” he said.

Oblitas also referred to those who say he played poorly against his friend and former Peru national team coach Ricardo Gareca. “Never when we spoke to Ricardo did he say, ‘I’ll go if you go or vice versa’, except when there were two or three times certain issues that Gareca left and I then became a stubborn cholo of the federation, and he stayed and fulfilled his contract,” he said. Furthermore, he pointed out that his main mistake was not renewing when they asked him to.
“My only mistake was not renewing with the FPF before when they asked me to. In Qatar they already asked me (to extend) but I said ‘no, let Gareca extend first’ because I had more support with him because he is heavy. Agustín (Lozano) asks me in Qatar to help Ricardo with the renewal. That was before the game against Australia. He told me, “He has to stay no matter what,” Oblitas said.
