Plenty of teams have been linked with Odell Beckham Jr. in recent months, but the free-agent receiver still remains one of the hottest names available at the halfway point in the season.
Beckham, who is rehabilitating a cruciate ligament rupture he sustained at Super Bowl LVI in February, has kept his options open, but the star wideout could be close to a decision in the coming weeks, according to recent reports. But while the mounting speculation is sure to make for interesting conversations surrounding the NFL, there’s barely enough reported information to suggest OBJ has narrowed its picks to a single target.
However, NFL fans looking for more insight into the factors that could weigh on Beckham’s upcoming decision got an interesting behind-the-scenes look thanks to a recent interview from the man himself. In a clip from an upcoming episode of Complex’s Volume shared on SundayBeckham named the Bills, Packers, Cowboys and his first NFL team, the Giants, as teams he has been in contact with before discussing the ideal situation for the next chapter of his career.
“Whether it’s Buffalo, Green Bay Calling, the Cowboys, or reuniting with the Giants, I want to be able to invest in something where I can buy one — not to say I only have three or four left.” , but home for the next three or four years, like I could call this place home,” Beckham said.
The 30-year-old’s desire to put down roots wherever he chooses to use his talents is understandable given the significant milestones he experienced during his eighth NFL season. Beckham won his first Super Bowl with the Rams on February 13 and welcomed the birth of his son Zydn four days later.
While it remains to be seen where OBJ ultimately takes its talents, his mention of the Cowboys could certainly raise many eyebrows given a report released Sunday morning.
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported that Dallas has a vested interest in Beckham whenever he’s ready to return. Rapoport also noted that interested teams, which could include the Bills, Giants, Rams, Chiefs and Packers, assume OBJ is healthy and will sign with a team by early December.
