The President of the Republic orders an official mourning in Cuba

Havana, January 4 (ACN) Miguel Diaz-Canel BermudezFirst Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party and President of the Republic, decreed on the occasion of the death of Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI. an official memorial service in Cuba on December 31.

The official duel begins on January 5 from 06:00 to 12:00, as announced today by the Official Journal of the Republic through the publication of Presidential Decree 552/2023 in its Extraordinary Edition number 1 of the current year.

During the official duel, the lone star flag is flown at half-staff in public buildings and military installations.

Benedict XVI expressed his affection for the Cubans and spoke out against the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed on Cuba, noting that efforts to consolidate a society with a broad horizon are renewed and reconciled, by economic measures imposed from outside the country will adversely affect the population, the presidential decree says.
