Oilers win outdoors

As part of the Legacy Classic, the Edmonton Oilers won 5-2 at Commonwealth Stadium on Sunday evening.

The two Alberta rivals looked to take advantage of this outdoor event to get back on the path to victory. Keep in mind that the two teams have only managed three small victories in 15 games since the start of the season.

Connor McDavid was injured during his team’s game against the Winnipeg Jets on October 21 and returned to the Edmonton team (2-5-1). He also had a hand in his team’s third goal, receiving an assist in the net from defender Evan Bouchard.

The Oilers quickly took control of the game. Former Montreal Canadiens Brett Kulak scored first by grabbing a rebound from Evander Kane. Furthermore, his trio was at the heart of Edmonton’s success.

Kane had two goals and an assist, while Zach Hyman had a goal and an assist. Ryan Nugent-Hopkins was an accomplice in Kulak’s nets. Leon Draisaitl was also there and collected two assists.

Nazem Kadri has been in great difficulty since the start of the election campaign and has finally been able to get out of his crisis. He scored his team’s first goal on the power play. With one second left in the Flames’ (2-6-1) five-on-three game, the former Toronto Maple Leafs deflected MacKenzie Weegar’s shot. Jonathan Huberdeau also scored an assist in this sequence.

The Flames guard also had a hand in his team’s second goal, scored by AJ Greer in the second period.

The Oilers failed twice because they were shorthanded, which is the only downside for Jay Woodcroft’s men.

With this setback, the Flames are now in 31st place in the standings with three points. They will challenge the Dallas Stars on Wednesday. The next day we go to Edmonton.
