The German Chancellor was injured while jogging this Sunday. However, his political agenda will not be disturbed.
Chancellor Olaf Scholz suffered a minor facial injury when he fell while jogging on Sunday and had to cancel his appointments, a government spokeswoman said.
“He fell while jogging and sustained bruises on his face,” this spokesman told AFP. “Unfortunately he had to cancel his appointments for the day,” she added.
“I can’t wait to see the memes!”
Olaf Scholz spoke about his accident on X (formerly Twitter) this Monday, September 4th. He thanked those who sent him well wishes and said his injury was not as serious as it seemed. All accompanied by a photo that caused a stir and in which we see him with a blindfold. “I can’t wait to see the memes!” he added with a lot of self-irony.
The Social Democratic chancellor was due to attend political meetings to support his party’s candidates ahead of state elections in Hesse planned next month. Interior Minister Nancy Faeser is the list leader of the Social Democratic Party (SPD) for this election in Hesse.
Olaf Scholz has been running regularly for several years. “I run two or three times a week and for an hour and a half on Sundays,” he said in an interview a few years ago. However, his scheduled schedule for next week will not be affected by Sunday’s injury.
