Olivia Bowen says she’s “lost weight and put it back on” after a series of setbacks, shedding light on how her postpartum fitness journey “hasn’t been linear”.
Olivia Bowen shared the reality of her postpartum fitness journey on her Instagram on Saturday.
The 29-year-old mother-of-one explained she gained weight after initially losing weight after giving birth to her son, due to a series of health setbacks.
The reality star welcomed son Abel in June 2022 with husband Alex Bowen, whom she met on Love Island in 2016.
Taking to Instagram, the star shared a picture of herself running in her gym clothes.
Olivia opened up about how fitness is a “mental struggle” for her and how she “lost weight and then gained it back”.

She wrote: “Having covid, tonsillitis and a broken wrist this year, I’ve dropped out of the game a lot more times than I’d like to.”
“It doesn’t matter how many times you fall down as long as you get back up!” I always miss it, but I have a hard time starting again after a week or more break, but the only way to get back there is discipline – the lack of motivation.
“I just don’t give myself a choice.” “Deep down, I know what’s good for me.”
Olivia explained that she doesn’t always find online portrayals of postpartum fitness to be realistic.
“I feel like a lot (not all) of what you see online about fitness travel (especially postpartum) is so linear.” Like, “Hey, I started this and never looked back.”
“The reality (especially after baby lol) is you’re going to crash, have a hard time finding time, and it’s up and down.
“I lost weight and then gained it back.” “Come to me and tell me that discipline knows no bounds, but I know for a fact that for so many it’s a reality.”
She continued, “The challenge is to tackle it again.” “It’s a mental struggle when you’ve made progress and then lose track, whether it’s because of illness, child care or whatever – life comes FAST towards one, brother.”
She concluded with some inspirational words for her followers: “If you manage to keep going and never give up, even if you’ve had to miss a few sessions or lost your progress, I salute you, just keep saddled up and keep going.” It.
