Olivia Newton-John makes a pact with God to save daughter Chloe’s life

Olivia Newton-John made a pact with God in 1985 while pregnant with daughter Chloe Lattanzi.

The Grease star, who died Monday at the age of 73, said on a February 2021 episode of the podcast A Life of Greatness that she “almost lost” her child before she was born.

“I went to bed and asked God to save her, and if He did, I would say the Lord’s Prayer every night for the rest of my life,” she said of the experience. “And I have.”

After Newton-John called the prayer “very powerful,” she was asked if she ever “thought.” [her own] death” over the years.

“I’ve found a few times that it was more of a possibility than I wanted,” the Grammy winner replied, citing her 30-year battle with breast cancer.

“We all know we’re going to die,” she continued. “I think we spend our lives denying it. It’s very personal.”

Newton-John – who Chloe, now 36, shared with ex-husband Matt Lattanzi – went on to share her thoughts on life after death.

“It’s almost like we’re parts of the same computer, drawing on the main battery. I don’t have a precise definition of what it is,” she explained at the time. “I think there’s a great knowledge out there, we’re becoming a part of it.”

The actress’ husband, John Easterling, announced Monday via Facebook that his partner had died.

“Dame Olivia Newton-John, 73, died peacefully this morning at her Southern California ranch surrounded by family and friends,” the 70-year-old businessman wrote. “We ask everyone to respect the privacy of the family at this very difficult time.”

Newton-John was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1992, returning in 2013 and again in 2017, which Easterling addressed in his statement.

“Olivia has been a symbol of triumph and hope for over 30 years by sharing her journey with breast cancer,” he wrote. “In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations be made in her memory to the Olivia Newton-John Foundation Fund.”

Many celebrities then took to social media to pay tribute to the late “Xanadu” star, including her “Grease” co-star John Travolta.

“See you on the street and we’ll all be back together,” the 68-year-old actor captioned his Instagram tribute. “From the moment I saw you, yours and forever!
Your Danny, your John!”
