Olivia-Newton John’s grieving husband John Easterling has opened up about the stars’ final days and revealed the singer was “pain free”.
The beloved Grease star passed away on August 8, 2022 at the age of 73 after a 30-year battle with breast cancer.
Speaking to the Daily Telegraph in Australia, American businessman John, 70, who married Olivia in 2008, said she spent the end of her life “in peace” despite the difficulties of her illness.
“She was very clear and very alive and very aware and not in pain. So there was a quality of life there at the time that I think is so critical.’
Olivia had breast cancer three times and was first diagnosed in 1992 before it returned in 2013 and again in 2017, eventually spreading to her spine.

John went on to gushed about his late wife’s “unusual capacity for caring” and said she was surprised by the global grief.
“All the accolades…she’d kinda dismiss that”
Adding, “She was just busy focusing on living her life as a happy spirit.”
Last week, John called his late wife “the bravest and most compassionate woman” he’s ever met during an emotional tribute at the G’Day USA Arts 20th Anniversary Gala in Los Angeles, according to The Mirror.
The event, which was also attended by Newton-John’s daughter Chloe Lattanzi, included a musical tribute with a medley of the Grease and Xanadu star’s greatest hits, performed by Australian musician Delta Goodrem, according to Variety.
During this tribute, John opened up and shared the love story he and Olivia had shared in their lives.
“Olivia and I fell unexpectedly, madly and forever in love in the Amazon rainforest,” he revealed to the captivated crowd.
“Over the past 15 years I have been blessed to share the depth and passion of her being,” he continued. “Every day with Olivia was a little bit of magic. Every day with Olivia was supernatural.”

While reflecting on their life and relationship during the tribute, he also revealed that his late wife has dedicated her time, name and efforts to cancer research centers in Australia and the United States.

Newton-John was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 1992. And after her recovery, she became an advocate for breast cancer research and other health issues.
John, the founder and president of the Amazon Herb Company, met Newton-John a few years later in the mid ’90s.

They wed in June 2008 in a spiritual Incan ceremony in Peru, followed nine days later by a legal ceremony on Jupiter Island in Florida.
More than 25 years had passed since her breast cancer diagnosis when Olivia made the shocking announcement that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer again in 2017. During that time, she revealed that she had had a previous relapse of the disease four years earlier, but had decided to keep the news a secret.
Unfortunately, the “If You Love Me, Let Me Know” star revealed that her third diagnosis had metastasized, spreading to her bones and progressing to Stage IV.
It comes after news broke of a state memorial to be held in honor of the stars who have died.
The event at Hamer Hall, Arts Center Melbourne will include a performance by singer Delta Goodrem, who played the actress in a 2018 mini-series.
