Philanthropic Efforts

In addition to the founding, an Olivia Newton-John Cancer & Wellness Center has already been set up at the Austin Hospital in Melbourne.

Although her name and likeness are linked to both the foundation and the center, it doesn’t necessarily change the star’s net worth, according to a legal expert.

“The facility opened in 2012 at a cost of $189 million with state and federal funding and philanthropic support,” Chris Melcher, a partner at Walzer Mercher, told FOX Business. “Olivia donated to her donor recommended fund while she was alive, so her assets are already in her donor account. Her estate plan likely includes additional charitable donations that may qualify for a charity deduction to reduce taxes on her estate.”

Newton-John moved her foundation to the United States for tax breaks, her then-rep Michael Caprio said of the move.

“Both Olivia and her husband, John Easterling, have been very active directors of the charity since its inception and have said they look forward to continuing their support of herbal medicine research, particularly for cancer, in the US,” according to 7 News in Australia .
