In an interview for Apple Music, the “Driver’s License” singer was asked if she’s had periods of low self-confidence and how she’s dealt with low points in her career.

When she said yes, she explained, “I think it’s impossible not to struggle with such an intense lifestyle, but I think I have a really wonderful support system around me, wonderful parents, wonderful team, wonderful friends and myself really counting on them.”

“I don’t know what I would do without it but yeah it’s been a pretty crazy time and I’m grateful for everything but without a doubt it’s been a lot,” added the 20-year-old star.

During the interview, the presenter asked her if she holds back or lets go when she pours her emotions into her songs. “I think it’s a bit of both. I think when you’re writing something and you’re in that creative flow, you can never be like, ‘Oh, is this too intense, oh my god, I’m going to upset people,'” she explained. I think maybe later, because I think it’s impossible not to think about it, but I really try to think about how I feel and what I mean when I sit at the piano.

Olivia Rodrigo’s second studio album, Guts, is slated for a September 8 release.
