Activists from the climate group “Last Generation” have started a campaign in Germany aimed at wealthy citizens. Activists dug a golf course on the island of Sylt in the North Sea and planted flowers and trees in its place.

“While the super-rich play golf here, they are throwing away our future,” said one of the activists involved in a statement posted on Twitter. German policy should also be less concerned about shower times and other measures and instead target the super-rich, who would act as climate sinners.
The campaign-affected Sylt Budersand golf course was only voted Germany’s most popular golf course in 2022. Armed with safety vests and shovels, activists began digging the lawn on Wednesday.
The redesign also included replacing the flag on the putting green with a sign that read “Conservation Area”. Activists also unfurled a banner that read: “Your Luxury = Our Water Scarcity.”
In a broadcast, The Last Generation wrote: “Golf courses occupy vast areas and vast amounts of resources for the luxury of a few people who can afford them.”
