There have been numerous comparisons between the two star players for some time. Bedard (2023) and McDavid (2015) were the first hockey players selected in their draft. They are considered generational talents.

When asked about his impressions of the 18-year-old, McDavid praised his maturity.

“He looks a lot more mature than he is,” said the man, whose comments were reported by the website LNH.com.

“During the Biosteel camp two years ago, at some point, [Bedard] It was two against one with Sid [Crosby], and he decided to ignore it and throw instead. McDavid also said he was 17 at the time. He obviously has a lot of confidence on the ice, and I mean that respectfully, not the other way around. He’s confident on the ice and he’s mature off it too.”

In 27 games since the start of the season, Bedard found the net 11 times and provided 12 assists for 23 points. He has established himself as the top scorer among first-year players in the National Hockey League (NHL).

A circus

The young athlete's performance seemed to impress the veteran, but not as much as his demeanor off the ice.

“He seems to be doing really well,” McDavid said. They experienced several difficult situations in Chicago and he managed very well to deliver performances at a high level.

“I'm sure it's a lot for him. Everywhere he goes it's a circus. Things will be no different for him in Edmonton. I'm sure you do [les médias] go and give him a nice reception, but he always seems to be doing very well.”

“Off the ice you feel a little more like an adult, even if you’re not quite ready,” McDavid remembers. I remember, you're 18, you don't live with your family, you don't live with a host family. In the NHL you are treated like an adult, there are no rules, curfews and so on. If you want to be ready, it has to come from you. I think everything that happens off the ice is the most important change.

Against Bedard, McDavid and his gang will look to secure their eighth win in a row. The Blackhawks lost their last game but had the pleasure of winning two in a row last week.
