When Danielle Prior spotted a “shiny white ring” in her daughter’s eye after snapping a picture of her with her iPhone, she initially thought it was reflection flash.
But when photos kept showing the same bright circle in her right eye, the 30-year-old mother, who lives in England with her daughter, panicked and made an emergency appointment.
Tests showed that the white ring was actually a warning sign.

Little Evie, just 11 months old, had retinoblastoma, a rare cancer of the retina.
“I cried for days and couldn’t sleep but of course Evie herself was strong, happy and resilient,” the mother told The Sun.
The girl was treated at Birmingham Children’s Hospital, where she underwent intra-arterial chemotherapy.
Danielle began sharing her daughter’s journey on her Instagram page to connect with other parents whose children have retinoblastoma.

“Our life is no longer the same. We are constantly in the hospital and Evie sleeps at least twice a month. I’m struggling financially, but I’m trying to make her life as comfortable as possible and make sure she doesn’t miss anything,” she explains.

Danielle hopes Evie’s cancer will stabilize after treatment as the cancer is unlikely to become reactive again after the age of six.
Her biggest fear is that Evie will lose her eye because she knows how cruel people can be.

However, she will make that decision without hesitation when she has no other choice because she doesn’t want to put her life at risk.
“If Evie’s cancer leaves the optic nerve, we have no choice but to remove it. It’s in the eye right now,” she said.
