A German company was forced to withdraw a job offer that revealed that the railway company was still using Windows 3.11, software from 1993 that has not been supported by Microsoft since 2001.
Deutsche Bahn was looking for an IT specialist who could use the old operating system, which today serves as a historical relic in the microcosm of new technologies.
The job offer from Siemens Mobility, a manufacturer of trains for Deutsche Bahn, sparked so much ridicule on social media that the company has since removed it, German newspaper Bild reported, quoted by 7Sur7.
The railway company still relies on outdated technology, which has not gone unnoticed by some users, who remember that last year one in three long-distance trains was delayed.
According to the Belgian media, many companies still use old technologies and software. This could lead to technical problems that are difficult to solve, as was the case at Orly Airport in Paris.
According to 7Sur7, in 2015, thousands of passengers were stranded at this French airport because a computer, then running Windows 3.1 from 1992, failed for several days.
