The supposedly dead resident of a nursing home in the Chinese metropolis was supposed to be taken away, but officials noticed something was moving in the body bag.
A nursing home in Shanghai mistakenly transported an elderly man who was still alive in a body bag. When he was loaded into the hearse, the body was shaking, prompting authorities to note that the man was far from dead, according to a video that caused a stir on the internet from China. The men opened the yellow bag and verified that the old man was indeed alive.
“He’s alive, he’s alive,” exclaims one, startled. “Don’t cover him again.” The man was taken back to the house on the stretcher.
The video of the blue-and-white-masked workers sparked outrage on social media and was seen by many as further proof of what is still going wrong with the crown lockdown in the eastern Chinese port city that has been in place since late March. . Five employees were fined, including the head of the Putuo district nursing home and a doctor involved, state media reported on Tuesday. After the incident, the man was taken to a hospital and is in stable condition, the Global Times reported.
