“Tonight (Wednesday) between 1:33 a.m. and 1:48 a.m. (10:33 p.m. to 10:48 p.m. GMT Tuesday),” Russia fired “six missiles at the city of Zaporizhzhia,” said Governor Youriï Malachko, the region reported Currently one dead and at least two injured.
The secretary of the city’s local council, Anatolyi Kourtev, also stated a few minutes later that Zaporizhzhia had been attacked, specifying that “a residential building was destroyed by an enemy missile attack.”
Photos shared by Ukrainian media show a destroyed building, the facade of which has partially collapsed.
The largest nuclear power plant in Europe is located in the region, about fifty kilometers from the city of Zaporizhia, in Energodar. It is occupied by Russian forces.
This offensive came after Kiev announced on Tuesday that it had used long-range American ATACMS missiles against Russia for the first time, without giving further details, while special forces claimed devastating attacks on Russian army airfields.
