Louis-José Houde will host his 18th consecutive ADISQ gala this Sunday and the evening promises to be a memorable one for the comedian as he will be leaving at the end of the evening because he “needs a break”.
On Thursday, the artist confirmed that he will not be back at the helm of Quebec’s major music festival next year.
“It has been a wonderful creative and festive adventure, but it is time to pass the torch,” wrote Louis-José Houde on his Facebook page.
“Since I started as a presenter, musical styles have had time to go out of fashion and come back again. I need a break. It’s probably just a farewell and not a farewell. Maybe one day I’ll go back, but at the moment, with Émile Bilodeau all grown up, everything is happening too quickly. I also want to have more time for my shows and my personal projects, especially since I often cook over indirect heat and it takes longer,” he said.
He added: “I put all my remaining creative-musical energy into this final edition,” even considering setting the tone. “They fixed me up,” he joked.

Why not go to 20?
Louis-José Houde is asked by relatives and colleagues why he doesn’t attend 20 consecutive events. He has an answer for those who are curious: “Because 20 years would be beyond the scope. 18, it’s a quick little passage…”
Louis-José Houde informed ADISQ and Radio-Canada “several months ago” of his decision to leave his position as pilot to someone else, a press release said.
“Louis-José was able to mark our event in such a way that he created the model for the success of a gala. He was able to put his talent as a comedian and presenter at the service of our association and we can only thank him for investing so much in promoting our artists and our music,” said ADISQ President Jean-François Renaud.
The ADISQ Gala will be broadcast on ICI Télé this Sunday from 8 p.m.
