One two three go to sleep once and for all

One, two, three… go to sleep once and for all

The fact is that the idea is attractive. Saving a legendary show from a time when there were only two television channels in Spain and the word “Vasile” sounded like a brand of fabric softener at best. And try it.

The point is also that the theory can sound nice and the implementation can be sloppy, a return to nostalgia full of incomprehensible moments. Because it can take a lot of effort, resources, the best intentions and a live music band. But how much some shows age, those who made them and also those of us who were viewers.

Yesterday the new Un, dos, tres was re-released, but was not presented by Mayra Gómez Kemp or Miriam Díaz Aroca. The two of them sat in the audience, including Lydia Bosch with one of her children, who always looked like it was one of the best days of her life. And Pepe Carabias and wife Fedra Lorente.

But the new face of the competition is David, known to everyone as TheGrefg. He has millions of followers on YouTube and Twitter. And on this last channel he decided to present the program, with a chat in which users did not stop posting thousands of emojis and phrases that you can only understand if you are under 27 years old. Thank God one person said the name Iker Casillas.

TheGrefg made him want it. So many that he appeared half in a tracksuit and then donned an orange suit as a tribute to Ruperta. So many that he wanted to bring the thing back from when “One, Two, Three” was on the first channel on Fridays, when families had nothing better to do than sit in front of the television. As if Spain were the same today as it was back then, not to mention the families.

So he shot all age groups. He brought a handful of very famous friends (streamers, gamers, YouTubers) to participate: Marta Díaz, Luzu, Yo soy Plex, Lluna Clark, DJ Mario and Gemita. To Kiko Rivera to sing his new hit called “El Mambo” and thus avoid the media ostracism due to Mediaset’s veto. The chorus goes, “We just do it, we just do it, we just do it, you and I just do it.”

For those in their 30s and 40s, a handful of characters we got to know thanks to El Hormiguero. And if we didn’t meet them there, they fit perfectly. Jandro, the magician, the comedian JJ Vaquero, a mentalist whose name I can’t remember, and one of Amador Rivas’ sons in “La que se cerca”, who already has a mustache and is 1.80 meters tall. On the orange carpet, the actor Xavier Deltell asks the guests, who were completely unknown to him, questions: “What do you do to define yourself?” There was really a lot of laughter.

Entertainers who uttered very tender sentences: “I’m always happy,” “My grandmother couldn’t come,” “Yaya, I love you.” They wore very little clothing, but not her. Because there are things that change very little.

And a transversal, unique, eternal thing. This ages divinely. A ham cutter who didn’t stop handing out plates after posing at the photo op.

The structure of the program is very similar to the classic program, but the cards, questions and all inanimate objects are sponsored since the start of the event at seven in the afternoon. For example: “Why should you save money?” TheGrefg asked one of the couples, previously warning about the benefits of having an account with Ibercaja. Or a physical test that recreated one of the most famous scenes from Tom Cruise’s films called “Mission ImpoLidl”.

There are sufferers (also sponsored), an auction full of supposedly funny jokes, very ugly prices and others not so much. And two misers, the Hurtado Sisters. They didn’t stop calling the presenter “Mr TheGrefg” to the annoyance of everyone inside and outside the show. By the way, the teenager did not hide the gesture: “Who the hell thought these ladies were a good idea?” Dressed as a tribute to Wednesday of the Addams Family, but as “Thursday and Friday”. They confessed that they kept the money “in their bra.”

Just before midnight, Vicco came out to sing Nochentera. Everyone in the audience was dancing, but in the Twitter chat the messages were more like “No, one more card” and “But that’s abuse, five hours of show.” Five hours until the last gift is a motorcycle. No, my son, no.
