Ontario ‘nightmare’: Girl found dead in well near her daycare

Two parents’ “worst nightmare” came true in Ontario last Thursday when a two-year-old girl was found dead at the bottom of an open well after disappearing from her daycare.

“Vienna died and gained her angel wings in a way parents only think of in their worst nightmares,” reads a crowdfunding campaign that family friend Ericka Stapleton created to help her to survive the adversity.

When they picked up two-year-old Vienna Rose Irwin from Watch Me Grow Day Care in Coburg, Ontario last Thursday, the girl’s parents found she was missing, the Toronto Sun reported Monday.

At this point, searches were launched in the area, with the support of local police, to find the girl in the woods and surrounding ditches.

Unfortunately, the body of the lifeless child was reportedly found no less than an hour after the search began, deep in a nearby open pit. Despite attempts at resuscitation, she was reportedly pronounced dead at the hospital.

“She was the most beautiful and sweet little girl and in her short time on earth she touched so many. This tragic and sudden loss has devastated the Irwin family and all members of our small community,” read GoFundMe, which raised more than $120,000 on Tuesday.

Vienna’s funeral will take place on Thursday.
