Four years after opening Chez Cheval in Mont-Saint-Hilaire, Louis-François Marcotte and his partner, the actress Patricia Paquin, are expanding their addresses. On July 31, they opened a second cafe counter on the south bank.
“I call it timing. “I didn’t plan on doing anything like that,” admits the chef, who was thrilled by the space in a former bistro.
Located in Sainte-Julie, near Highway 20, this young horse looks a lot like his big brother and shares his mission to include and integrate people with an autism spectrum disorder.

On the menu, in addition to coffee and pastries, we also find signature sandwiches that have been delighting customers since 2019, such as the ham and butter baguette or the Italian sandwich garnished with eggplant, capicolle and mortadella. With the arrival of fall, soup and grilled cheese will appear on the menu. “It is comfortable, well-prepared and accessible food,” concludes Louis-François Marcotte.
Tartare and Poké bowls are also offered on certain days of the week. Ready-made meals such as lasagna or butter chicken, as well as some foods selected for their quality, round out the offerings at this friendly new address, which is quickly being adopted by locals and transients. .
