A Florida mother was shoplifting at a large store when her car caught fire and her two children were trapped inside.
At least that’s what the New York Post reported on the event. Alicia Moore, 24, was parked near the Dillard’s store in a northeastern suburb of Orlando, Florida. According to local police, their two young children were “unable to take care of themselves.”
The young woman first entered a store with an unidentified man and began stealing items, police said.
Almost an hour later, she found her car on fire.
Fortunately, after the explosion, witnesses rushed to the scene of the accident to help the children out of the vehicle. According to a police report, one of them suffered first-degree burns to the face and ears.
The vehicle would have caused a total loss. The cause of the fire is still unclear.
Alicia Moore was arrested days after the incident and charged with aggravated child neglect and arson, as well as theft and assault.
