Oscars 2022: Full List of Nominees and Winners

The 94th Academy Awards returned to Hollywood’s Dolby Theater as the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences honored the best films of the past year. The show was hosted by Regina Hall, Amy Schumer and Wanda Sykes, the first time the awards show has had multiple hosts since Anne Hathaway and James Franco co-hosted the 83rd edition in 2011.

“CODA” won all three awards it was nominated for, including Best Picture.

Will Smith took home the Best Actor award shortly after a shocking moment when he apparently slapped Chris Rock in the face after the comedian made a joke about Smith’s wife Jada Pinkett Smith while presenting another award. Jessica Chastain won her first Oscar for her performance in The Eyes of Tammy Faye.

But the show was met with controversy well before it began, when it was announced in February that eight awards would be given off air to shorten the broadcast and allow more time for scripted parts and musical numbers. Denis Villeneuve’s adaptation of Frank Herbert’s sci-fi epic Dune won awards for sound, production design, original music and editing ahead of the official ceremony.

While the Oscars were back in their usual home after a modified ceremony last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, some protocols remained. All participants were required to provide proof of vaccination or a valid Therapeutic Use Exemption. Actors and presenters were tested but did not have to be vaccinated.
