With the 94th Academy Awards just around the corner, co-host Amy Schumer said she pitched producers an idea for the show that included an appearance by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
“I think there’s definitely pressure in a way to say, ‘This is a vacation. let people forget We just want to have tonight,’ but it’s like, ‘Well, we have so many eyes and ears for this show,'” Schumer told talk show host Drew Barrymore in an upcoming episode.
Despite the fact that the awards ceremony will take place amid the Russian invasion of Ukraine, Schumer stressed that she had no qualms about standing up to the crisis by bringing Zelenskyy into the group, whether by satellite or in a pre-recorded capacity .

“I think it’s a great opportunity to comment on at least a few things. I have some jokes that highlight the nature of the current situation,” Schumer continued of how she would deliver her lines when hosting the film industry’s biggest evening alongside actress Regina Hall and comedian Wanda Sykes. “I mean, there are so many terrible things happening that it seems difficult to focus on which one.”

“I actually advertised — I wanted to find a way to have a Zelenskyy satellite or do a tape or something just because so many eyes are on the Oscars,” Schumer added in a preview obtained by ET Canada Has. “I’m not afraid to go there, but I’m not producing the Oscars.”
To help mitigate the ratings doldrums, the academy has announced it will be removing eight of its honors from the show to streamline the stalled telecast, and that the awards would be presented off-air and then incorporated into the program itself.

The show, which will air March 27, will also see a band mashup of epic proportions, including Blink 182 drummer Travis Barker, jazz pianist Robert Glasper and legendary singer and percussionist Sheila E.
