Faalele, who did 24 reps on this bench, remains technically crude. Unsurprisingly, he grew up in Melbourne and only started playing competitive football in 2017. But for such a great human being, Faalele has amazing movement skills. After all, Golden Gopher may have marked the BIGGEST touchdown for big players ever this December at the Guaranteed Rate Bowl, taking a 5-yard line transfer and rushing into the end zone for a web-friendly result.
Although Faalele is not seen on the same level as OT’s best prospects such as Evan Neal, Iki Ekuonu and Charles Cross, he has garnered a lot of interest as a development prospect, especially given Jordan Mailata’s recent success. Another huge Australian, Mailata was a rugby player before the Philadelphia Eagles gave him a chance in the seventh round of the 2018 draft.
NFL Network draft guru Daniel Jeremiah lists Faalele as the No. 49 prospect in the class, calling him “a huge right-hander with surprisingly agile legs and athleticism.”
