In our Sports Bet of the Day on Wednesday we bet on an underdog to play overseas, but unfortunately he couldn't finish the job. We actually won against the Bruins, who lost 2-1 in overtime in New Jersey.
This article will now highlight my top NHL picks for Thursday, December 14th.
This choice is supported by one of my NHL betting systems called The Hot Scorers.
How it works
Using this betting strategy, if a team has scored more than four goals in each of their last three games (which they didn't necessarily win), then bet against them when they play away.
The Washington Capitals are on the road against the Philadelphia Flyers on Thursday. Washington won its last two games against the New York Rangers 4-0 and the Chicago Blackhawks 4-2.

Prior to these two wins, the Capitals managed to score four goals in a 5-4 loss to the Dallas Stars.
So according to the rules of The Hot Scorers betting angle, I'm betting the Flyers will win.
Several other reasons
There are other reasons why I like this choice; Let me share some of them.
Expectations for the Flyers were low at the start of the season, but they currently sit in third place in the Metropolitan Division ahead of the Capitals with a record of 15-10-3.
The Flyers lost their last game in overtime to the Nashville Predators, but were playing well before that loss. They had won four games in a row.
One thing that concerns me about this game is that the Capitals have played well against the Flyers in their last 15 meetings with a record of 10-5.
Flyers goaltender Carter Hart bounced back from four straight losses in November to win his last three starts, allowing just four goals in that span.

Advantage for Hart
For the season, Hart improved to 9-6-1, with a goals-against average of 2.42 and a save percentage of .919.
His great performance between the pipes is one of the main reasons I'm supporting the Flyers at home against the Capitals.
