The St. Louis Blues failed to get the job done for us on Tuesday as they struggled to score and lost 1-0 to the Columbus Blue Jackets in a dull affair. That was a very disappointing result.
After Wednesday, NHL games will resume on Monday. So let's end the first part of the season with a winning bet!
Our NHL bet on Wednesday is powered by one of my NHL betting systems called Scoring Drought. Let me explain the rules to you.
In this system, we should bet on the away team that has lost its last two games by scoring three goals or less and has a winning odds of more than 1.80 in decimal format.
The Los Angeles Kings qualify under this betting angle. They travel to Nashville to take on the Predators. The Kings lost their last two games by three goals or fewer. In their last appearance they were beaten 4-3 in overtime by the Blues, and in their previous appearance they lost to the Colorado Avalanche 5-1.
So my best bet for Wednesday is the Kings, whose best available odds this morning were 1.87.
The Kings have struggled recently, having lost their last four games. Surprisingly, they have only won two of their last 16 games. This is a big concern.
Also the Predators…
On the other hand, the Predators have been hot and cold all season. The Nashville boys have lost five of their last seven games, so they haven't been doing much better lately.
There is no doubt that both teams are playing very poorly at the moment. But in this case I feel like the visiting team might have an advantage because they will play more loosely, unlike the home team who might be afraid of getting booed very quickly if they don't do well.
Desperate Kings
As the Kings head into the All-Star break, they will be desperate for a win and will therefore continue to push for a Wild Card spot to make the playoffs.
That kind of desperation should motivate the Kings to play at a higher level than we've seen recently.
In their only other meeting this season, the Predators defeated the Kings two weeks ago, leaving Los Angeles looking for revenge. And what better way to do that than by beating the Predators in Nashville?
So I'm taking the Kings on Wednesday. It's a difficult game to read given both teams' recent poor performances, but the Kings are playing well below their potential, but I expect a turnaround starting tonight.
