Outaouais: Spectacular collision with a deer in Pontiac –

A driver got into a spectacular collision with a deer before slamming into a utility pole and closing Route 148 during rush hour in Pontiac, Outaouais, on Friday morning.

MRC des Collines-de-l’Outaouais Public Safety was alerted by calls to 911 around 4:15 a.m. about an accident on Route 148 near Chemin Elm.

According to initial information, the woman, who was alone on board, collided with the deer and then crashed violently into a power pole.

The Hydro-Québec mast was completely severed and the power cables were dangling from the roadway, but no one was injured.

The Quebec Ministry of Transportation (TMQ) announced on Twitter that Route 148 remains closed in both directions between Elm and Maple streets.

Although a detour is suggested for users via Maple, Elm and Terry-Fox roads, it may still complicate travel this Friday morning.

A team from Hydro-Québec was on site to secure the lines, but the work was expected to take longer through the morning, it said.
