Ozark showrunner Chris Mundy has hinted at a new spin-off after the shocking Season 4 finale divided fans.
The Netflix drama, led by Jason Bateman and Julia Garner, wrapped up with the release of its final episodes last month and Chris insists there’s a hunger for more.
He told TV Line: “It’s definitely something that people have talked about a lot.

“There is nothing final. We’re lucky that people seem to really like the show, so obviously there’s going to be some interest.
However, the executive producer insists that any related show would have to be significantly different from the main show.
“It was really important for me to finish this show,” he explained. “That’s the work we’ve done, we’ve done our best and we hope people like it.

“And then whatever comes out of it would be its own thing, even though it’s in our universe.”
In the final episode of Ozark, the story came to an end for Marty and Wendy Byrde (Jason and Laura).
The couple’s fundraiser for their foundation was a huge success, but events took a bad turn when cartel boss Camila Navarro (Verónica Falcón) found out that Ruth Langmore (Julia Garner) had killed her son Javi (Alfonso Herrerra).

In brutal scenes, Ruth was shot dead by Camila, momentarily leaving the audience believing the Byrde couple got away with their actions.
However, private investigator Mel Sattem (Adam Rothenberg) showed up to ruin their chances, knowing what happened with Ben’s (Tom Pelphrey) death.
Jonah (Skylar Gaertner) then arrived at the scene and brandished a gun, the screen going black as the sound of a gunshot rang out.

Fans took to Twitter after watching the finale, with opinions divided on the ending.
One unimpressed viewer wrote: “People who say #Ozark is poorly written stumble. Not everything needs to be spelled out for you. A good ending is meant to spark a good debate or multiple theories of opinion. Writing isn’t lazy, your brain is.’
