Ozzy Osbourne says he is “deeply nervous” about the return of reality TV after the MTV show drove the family “crazy”.

The 74-year-old Black Sabbath rocker opened up about the BBC commissioning a series documenting her “new life in Britain”, the birth of Kelly’s baby and Sharon’s 70th birthday – 17 years after The Osbournes ended .

Ozzy says the show, which chartered the launch of reality TV shows as we know them, saw his “kids get messed up” and turn to drugs to cope with stardom.

Speaking on his SiriusXM channel, Ozzy said, “I don’t know how the Kardashians have been doing this for so long. In the end it drove us crazy.

“I’m not sorry I did it, but after three or four years I said, ‘You know what, we’re going to lose someone because it’s getting too crazy.’

“There’s rock ‘n’ roll fame that’s pretty intense, but the Osbourne level was just amazing. The kids paid for it. They all ended up taking drugs. Jack got clean and sober on that show, Kelly screwed up that show, I screwed up, and Sharon got cancer.

The reality TV show first aired on MTV in March 2002 and followed the eccentric personal life of Black Sabbath singer Ozzy and his family – with their eldest daughter Aimee deciding not to take part in the show.

Speaking on the radio, Ozzy revealed the show catapulted his fame further, comparing it to Beatlemania where entire restaurants yelled at him whenever he came to eat.

He said: “My wife sort of told me the BBC was doing The Osbournes return to England. I said, “We don’t have it all again”. But she said it was only for a while.

“It gave Sharon a new career. She has become the TV person in our family.’

The Osbournes was the first show of its kind and covered important events in the family’s life, such as Sharon’s battle with cancer, Ozzy’s near-fatal accident and when Kelly’s friend Robert came to live with them after his mother’s death.

The series became known for its wild events like Ozzy’s take on ‘Sharon!’ became a household catchphrase and his confusion over a ringing phone became iconic.

The program was filmed for a total of four seasons and 52 episodes and received the 2002 Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Reality Program.

Their move to a quaint Buckinghamshire village comes as Ozzy claimed “everything is bloody ridiculous” in the States and highlighted the country’s history of school shootings.

He told The Observer: “I’m sick of people getting killed every day. God knows how many people have been shot in school shootings. And there was this mass shooting in Vegas at that concert… It’s fucking crazy.

Although California’s Forest Lawn Cemetery is the preferred burial site for celebrities like Paul Walker, Brittany Murphy and Bette Davis, Ozzy made it clear he doesn’t want to follow suit.

He continued: “I’m English. i want to be back But if I say that, if my wife says we have to go and live in Timbuktu, then I will go. But no, it’s just time for me to come home.”
