Paddington Bear played a small role at the heart of the nation’s farewell to the Queen this week, leaving stuffed animals (and jam sandwiches) in the Royal Parks; and the BBC showing Paddington 2 on Monday.
And the lovable little bear – who had his first outing in 1958 – will return. The next installment, Paddington In Peru, will be filmed in London – and Peru – in 2023.

I understand all the usual suspects are on board: Ben Whishaw as Bear, Hugh Bonneville and Sally Hawkins as Mr and Mrs Brown, Julie Walters as Mrs Bird and Jim Broadbent as Mr Gruber. However, you have not received any scripts yet.
Details are classified, although it was written by Paul King, who directed the first two films.
This time it will be new director Dougal Wilson who tugs at our hearts (his past work includes some of the John Lewis Christmas commercials).

Michael Bond, author of the Paddington books, sent his bear back to Darkest Peru in 1964 when he took a trip to celebrate his great-aunt Lucy’s 100th birthday (an event that occurred in Paddington 2).
On the boat home, Paddington dreams that he is being chased by a giant cookie and has to seek refuge with the ship’s doctor.
Whatever the film’s storyline, the South American setting offers an opportunity to see Paddington – a fish out of water in London – also as a fish out of water at home in Peru.
And there’s talk of an extended family of bear cousins we should all get to know.
A StudioCanal spokesman said it was too early to share any official news about Paddington 3.
