(ANSA) — PESHAWAR, JAN 16 — A prominent Pakistani lawyer was killed in revenge by a colleague in court. According to the authorities, the incident happened in Peshawar.
According to a first reconstruction, Abdul Latif Afridi, 79, former President of the Bar Association of the Supreme Court of Pakistan and well-known in circles, was chatting with colleagues in a small room when a younger colleague approached and she fired six shots at him at point-blank range. Both were still wearing their robes. After the murder, the killer turned himself in to the police. “Don’t shoot, I had an account with him and I took revenge,” said the young lawyer. Afridi was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif described him as “an experienced lawyer and a courageous politician known for his integrity”.
Investigations revealed that the victim had previously been charged with involvement in the death of her killer’s father. Further details are not known. (HAND).
