Abbas briefed his Egyptian counterpart on the latest developments in the occupied Palestinian territories, particularly in Gaza, and stressed the need to work with all parties to ensure the end of Israeli aggression, particularly in the Gaza Strip or the West Bank or Jerusalem.

The President stressed that the only solution to the violent escalation in the region is politics, ending the Israeli occupation of the territory of the State of Palestine, with Jerusalem as its capital.

Abbas congratulated his counterpart Sisi on his victory in the presidential elections for a new term and on the success of the democratic process. He also praised Egypt's role in serving the Palestinian cause.

The meeting was attended by Secretary of the Executive Committee of the Liberation Organization Hussein Al-Sheikh, Chief of General Intelligence Major General Majid Faraj, Presidential Advisor for Diplomatic Affairs Majdi Al-Khalidi and Ambassador of the State of Palestine to Egypt, Diab Al Louh.

Both leaders reiterated their rejection of any efforts or attempts aimed at liquidating the cause of the Palestinian people and expelling their land.

They also agreed that the Palestinian cause requires that the international community and active forces assume the highest level of historical, political and humanitarian responsibility to achieve a just and comprehensive solution, including the recognition of an independent Palestinian state.
