Israeli forces killed a Palestinian teenager in the northern occupied West Bank on Tuesday, the Palestinian Health Ministry said on Tuesday, as Israeli-Palestinian violence mounted.

In the southern West Bank, the Israeli army announced on Tuesday that it had detained two Palestinians suspected of being involved in a deadly attack near Hebron on Monday.

The Palestinian Ministry of Health stated that “Othmane Mohammed Abou-Khurog, 17, died from a bullet to the head fired by the occupying[Israel]army in Jenin.”
According to the official Palestinian news agency Wafa, the teenager was hit during clashes with Israeli forces conducting searches and arresting a young man in Zababdeh, a village near Jenin.
For its part, the Israeli army said it opened fire after “explosive devices” were fired at its forces, adding that it had identified “a target hit”.

The body of the young Palestinian was carried in a procession to the cemetery in Zababdeh, an AFP journalist reported.
The Security Cabinet met Tuesday and announced that it had taken “a number of decisions to combat terrorists and their sponsors.”
The West Bank has been the scene of an outbreak of violence since the beginning of the year, with a series of attacks by Palestinians on Israeli targets and acts of violence by Israeli settlers against Palestinians.

On Monday, Israeli Batsheva Nigri was shot dead and one man seriously injured in an attack on her vehicle traveling near Hebron. Nigri was a teacher and lived in the settlement of Beit Hagai south of Hebron.

Two days before this attack, two Israelis, a father and his son, were shot dead at a car wash in Huwara, a Palestinian city in the northern West Bank. Despite a manhunt by Israeli forces, no suspect has been arrested.
Nearly three million Palestinians live in the West Bank, territory occupied by Israel since 1967. There are also around 490,000 Jewish settlers living in settlements that the United Nations has classified as illegal under international law.

In addition, the army announced Tuesday that it was dropping an investigation into the death of one of its soldiers during a major Israeli operation that killed 12 people in Jenin on July 3-4. Soldier “David Yehuda Yitzhak was killed by fire from our forces due to a mistake in identification,” the army said.
At least 48 Palestinians have been killed since the beginning of the year in the city of Jenin and the adjacent refugee camp in the occupied northern West Bank, a stronghold of Palestinian armed groups regularly raided by the Israeli army.
