A Palestinian was killed by Israeli soldiers during nighttime clashes at a refugee camp in the occupied West Bank, the Health Ministry said on Tuesday.
“Ayed Samih Khaled was killed by occupation bullets (Israel, editor’s note) in the head,” the ministry said.
The Israeli army has not yet communicated this information.
According to residents of the Nour Chams camp on the outskirts of Tulkarem in the West Bank, the Israeli army arrived there around midnight (9pm GMT Monday).
“Shortly after they arrived at the camp, there were clashes between activists and soldiers,” a resident told AFP, without being named for security reasons.
“The army came with bulldozers to destroy the roads in the camp,” he continued.
According to an AFP photographer at the scene, sports facilities in the camp were badly damaged in the raid.
Violence related to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict has increased in the West Bank since the beginning of last year, and has become even more pronounced in recent days.
Violence related to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict has claimed the lives of at least 226 Palestinians, 32 Israelis, a Ukrainian and an Italian since the start of the year, according to an AFP count from official sources.
This number includes combatants and civilians on the Palestinian side and mainly civilians and three members of the Arab minority on the Israeli side.
