Panamanian forensics said they need genetic material to identify the bodies of the victims of the accident that recently occurred in this Central American country affects immigrants of various nationalities, including Cubans.

The information was released through a statement issued by the representatives of the Institute of Forensic Medicine and Forensic Sciences of Panama and replicated by various official Panamanian and international media.

The communiqué points out that, taking into account the degree of deterioration of the corpses, the Experts have requested DNA material from the migrants’ countries of origin to collect your fingerprint or dental records.

The car accident, which is considered the worst traffic accident in the western part of this island nation, left a record of at least 39 dead and several injuredincluding citizens of the Greater Antilles.

Panamanian authorities said the damaged vehicle contained nationals of South American countries such as Ecuador and Brazil, as well as African nationals.

In a first approach to the composition of the group of immigrants traveling by bus, the Panamanian Presidency noted that 4 of them were from Africa, with 1 from Eritrea, 1 from Nigeria and 2 from Cameroon.

There was also a larger number of immigrants from Ecuador (22), followed by Haiti with (16), 11 from Venezuela, 6 from Brazil, 5 from Colombia and 2 from Cuba.

Several figures worldwide have expressed their condolences to all of the victims’ families for the fatal event.

Among them the representatives of the Colombian government, who expressed their condolences to the other countries involved.
