American football alert in the United States. Buffalo Bills player Damar Hamlin was taken to a hospital by ambulance in critical condition after suffering a serious fall during a game against the Cincinnati Bengals. Hamlin, 24, was hit by rival Tee Higgins’ helmet after a tackle. He got up, but seconds later he collapsed on the field. There were still six minutes to play in the first quarter.

The ambulance service treated the player on the pitch and gave him a cardiopulmonary massage before he was taken out of the stadium by ambulance. The NFL game, which was broadcast live nationwide during prime time, was suspended, first temporarily, then permanently postponed. The other players and coaches first saw Hamlin’s attention and then left, visibly shaken.

The American professional league has indicated in a statement that the player is in critical condition. “Our thoughts are with Damar and the Buffalo Bills. We will provide more information as it becomes available. The NFL has been in constant contact with the NFL Players Association, which agrees with the game’s postponement.”
