Julia Dalavia, 24, Guta of “Pantanal” (TV Globo), has said she identifies as bisexual and says she is a woman taking control of her own sexuality.
“I try to take the focus off of that because it’s a very natural thing. Whether I’m bi or not, straight or not. I like people that I identify with and connect with. There are so many nice people in the world that I don’t know if I can fit into anything,” the actress said in an interview with the newspaper O Globo.
On the subject of sexuality, Julia explained that she feels comfortable in the provocative and sex scenes of the 21h soap opera. The actress also said she doesn’t mind appearing nude as long as the shot isn’t free and helps tell the story.
In the story, your character must deal with the discovery of the second family of her father Tenório, played by Murilo Benício. For Julia, contrary to the plot, she believes that the truth must always be the way. As a teenager, the actress recalled a betrayal by a friend.
“It is very annoying to hear about this from third parties. I’ve dealt with it the way I know it, which is dialogue, but I would prefer such things to be addressed and resolved within the relationship. My wish is that the truth is always revealed,” she said.
Another problem Tenório’s daughter faces is incest. Therefore, Julia had to delve deeper to bring truthfulness to the plot in which she falls in love with her supposed brother. “It has to be the worst thing in life to feel like that. I can’t even imagine it,” said she, who has a brother four years her junior. “The art of storytelling isn’t about judging circumstances, it’s about letting them happen,” he added.
Speaking of features, the mother, beautician Márcia Dalavia, is an unconditional supporter and said she doesn’t miss a chapter of “Pantanal.” When asked about her daughter’s sex scenes, she said she didn’t mind. “I see it very naturally. I prepared Julia for life, I always tried to give her decisionmaking power, to make her an independent woman. And it worked. She’s safe,” explained Márcia.
The mother in the fiction, Isabel Teixeira, credited as Maria Bruaca, also praised her daughter in the storyline. “We come from different generations, but there is a lot of exchange between us. I love this girl. We did very strong scenes together and it even makes me cry. I remember a scene where Tenório tells his story and Maria Bruaca tells how they met. When I saw that scene on TV I was blown away by Julia because one of the hardest things for an actor is to listen and at that moment she was very devoted, I thought it was beautiful. She’s a great actress,” said Isabel.
