Parents die 3 children stay in car for 55 hours

In Australia, a family has an accident on the road. The parents died, but their three children miraculously survived.

A tragic road accident in the village of Kondinin, 270 kilometers east of the city of Perth, has deeply moved the people of Australia. After one family spent Christmas with their loved ones, Jake Day and his wife Cindy Braddock took their three children from Northam – but never made it home. 55 hours later, two friends of the Day family discovered their Land Rover in a ravine, the SUV overturned several times. Inside the car, friends found the bodies of the parents – their children, aged five and two, and the two-month-old baby miraculously survived.

Helen Braddock sounded the first alarm bell on Monday via social media. Her sister Cindy has not been available since Christmas Day, she wrote on Facebook. “Has anyone seen Jake Day or Cindy Braddock?” the woman asked desperately. Helen reported Cindy and her family missing to the police, who immediately launched a search.

Five-year-old sister saves younger brother’s life

On Tuesday afternoon, two family acquaintances who participated in the search operation alerted rescue services when they discovered the family’s Land Rover crashed among the trees. The couple’s five-year-old daughter got up from her seat and freed her two brothers from their car seats. But the girl was unable to open the car door – the three little ones had been trapped in it for more than two days at 30 degrees, as reported by the “WA Today” portal.

An ambulance took the three to Perth Children’s Hospital. Michael Read, the late father’s cousin, said one of the children suffered a spinal injury, but all are in stable condition and could be discharged in the next few days.

Read is proud of the couple’s five-year-old daughter: if she hadn’t unbuckled her younger brother’s car seat, “he wouldn’t be with us today,” said the cousin. The courageous decision saved the baby’s life. “It must have been hard for the three kids to be in the car all the time. No one knows what they went through,” says Read.
